  1. Hi Lynne,

Using White hat SEO tactics is definitely more profitable over a longer period of time and will lead you to build a more sustainable business. I see you’re recommending not to OVERshare your posts on social media. What’s your preferred social media platform? And what do you consider oversharing? With twitter for example I read a lot of posts that say you should retweet your content a lot (4 times a day), as it is not easy to be noticed because of amount of tweets being published every second around the globe.

    • Hi Maarten

Perhaps I should have used the term Spam instead? There is sharing and then there is spamming! If you engage with your followers and actually have a relationship with your audience it is one thing. Just going onto social networks and throwing your content anywhere and everywhere you can is a different thing.

I use Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Google Plus. I have a few different profiles and pages because I have 4 websites 🙂 I think maybe every person has a social network that they seem to find easiest to work and so mine would be Facebook. I am not sure if that is because it is the best social network or not. I have heard that Twitter is brilliant and that the conversions are so much better but for some reason I get much more followers and engagement on Facebook!

      Kind Regards

  2. Hello Lynne!

Great explantation. Thank you so much for sharing. Getting ranked in google the right way is definitely the best way to get your online business up and running. When I search for keywords I first think about the topics that interest me and then search to see if others are interested too! I have just discovered that covering new ideas is the way to go. Found myself an amazing keyword and ran with it.

Once again thanks for sharing. Prior to starting my website I didn’t even know what a keyword or SEO was so keep the good information rolling so others can discover what we have!

    • Hi Melody
It is a pleasure, I just hope to save others from making bad SEO mistakes without knowing any better. I know I have done that, before I came across all the right information.
And congrats on your keyword achievements, that is great and loads of fun when you really understand it!
      Kind Regards

  3. Hi Lynne, very good post and you are right, that by using White hat SEO tactics you will be much more effective over time. When I started out there was a lot of hype about Black hat techniques and to my detriment I use some of those techniques in one of my websites. It worked well for a short time but the site then got “sandboxed”, definitely not worth it.

    • So sorry to hear that Lee. As mentioned in my post on Black Hat Techniques I have bought backlinks before and I have used SEO “experts”… not even sure what they supposedly did. Fortunately for me I never had any negative consequences to my rankings. When I realised what black hat and white hat was I quickly changed my tactics.
The problem comes in that someone comes new to online marketing and they don’t know what black hat techniques are and the danger. They are completely unsuspecting and will pay for it.

      Kind Regards

  4. Hi Lynne,
I had no idea of this terminology before reading your post. So much to learn about online business and then there is learning a whole new language. Thank you!

    • Hi Peter

I am glad you learned something. Just keep it simple if you get confused and don’t fall for anyone or any tactic that claims they can rank your website quickly! The basic rule is concentrate on adding good content on your website. If do that eventually you will rank.

      Kind Regards

  5. Hi Lynne,
I had heard about Black Hat Techniques but not of white ones, but I guess there has to be an opposite of WRONG, right? 😛
I’m glad you promote people to do honest work and to follow the rules instead of taking short-term roads to success which will most likely lead to failure.

    • It is a pleasure Jonas.

Yes there are already too many people promoting the black hat methods and the wrong ways, they are full up. I just want others to succeed too. There is so much opportunity online if you know where to look. There is a place for everyone, no need to try and cheat and take short cuts. It can be done relatively easily with a bit of learning and guidance.

      Kind Regards

  6. Hey Lynne,

    Great post.
Thank you for sharing about SEO and the absolutely approved ways to improve it!

    • Hi Kamal

Thanks for visiting and for the positive feedback, come back soon!

      Kind Regards

  7. I never heard of White hat SEO tactics until I read this. Nice to see you’re encouraging people to do things the right way–better in the long run. Nice piece.

    • It’s a pleasure 🙂 It really is best to stick to above board SEO techniques.

      Kind Regards

  8. We know that for ranking well always we should apply white hat seo techniques and should avoid black hat otherwise in future we may get penalized, your method of describing is really good. Thanks.

    • Hi Gautam, thanks for the compliment and yes you are so right. Why risk having your site penalized?

  9. Grateful for this reminder. Sometimes it is the simplest of things that you need to continue doing to see great results. I follow many of these tips already but would love to use social media more for my sites. Hopefully this month I’ll start off – thanks again!

    • I do recommend that you do start with Social Media, it is a great way to interact with your readers and of course it is free which is something I love. I am hoping to add much more about social media marketing soon 🙂
