Looking for Jobs in Langebaan? How about I teach you how to make a living online instead?

If you live in the West Coast of South Africa you would have noticed that jobs in Langebaan, Saldanha, Vredenburg and surrounds are firstly rather scarce and hard to come by. Secondly even if you do manage to find a job, the salaries are in general nothing short of pitiful.

I’ll be honest here, I just don’t know how people survive and make ends meet. I do know that a lot of the men in the area work overseas and the wives and children stay in the area… so I can see how they manage on foreign income, but what about the rest of the community?

I’ve recently seen a full time position for a bookkeeper for R3000 per month, this to me is just criminal. I was earning more than that about 20 years ago in my first office job doing creditors and buying.

To put this in perspective,  I was recently paying R2300 for my daughter and another R1620 for my son to be in playschool from 8am – 5pm and yes that is a lovely playschool. So how would I be able to afford to look after my kids properly on R2500 a month? What about medical aid, rent, food, fuel…. don’t get me started on fuel, I spend more than R2500 a month on fuel!

I am not sure why the salaries in this area are a fraction of the salaries paid in Cape Town or other areas in South Africa, it doesn’t make sense to me.

Searching for Jobs in Langebaan

Jobs in Langebaan? Why not do something else?

Anyway so the point of this article is not to rant and rave about how things are so tough in the West Coast. The point of this post is to see how I can help the people looking for jobs in Langebaan, or perhaps for the people that are in a full time position earning a salary that they cannot even feed themselves on.

As I’m sure you have figured out by now I work online. I wouldn’t call myself a guru but I do know a good few things about working online.

I regularly publish training at Wealthy Affiliate University that I get paid for and this website is dedicated to helping people learn about working online. I have 3 websites that I am currently working on. This one of course and then my mommy blogs Kaboutjie and my website about recovery from addiction.

I have recently had a few people in the area contact me and ask me to help them set up a website and to get started working online. So I have decided to run with this and see what I can do for you!

Is It Easy Working Online? What do you need to get Started?

Yes and no. Read my article here on making money fast, easily, on autopilot.

Believing you can become rich overnight is just going to get you into trouble, you will fall for scams and be very disappointed.

An online business is just the same as any other type of business. You need to learn about it, you need to work at it, you need to implement the things you have learned and you need to spend a little bit of money on some essential things to run your business.

So here’s what you need to work online:

  • A decent internet connection (yeah I know I have also had serious issues with that in Saldanha)
  • A laptop or desktop computer (you will struggle using a phone or ipad)
  • A good keyword research tool  which will cost you $19 a month. Yes you can get by with some free tools but it will be a fight.
  • A place to learn, to connect with like-minded people and to support you in your business. I highly recommend Wealthy Affiliate University‘s premium account at $47 a month, but there is a free starter account you can get started with.
  • A website (which can be set up for free using Wealthy Affiliate University)
  • Hosting (free with Wealthy Affiliate University)
  • An email autoresponder for email marketing. Starting at $19 a month. Once again you can get by with some free tools but it will be very much worth it to use the tools I recommend.

So what am I offering? Only available in Langebaan and Saldanha!

  1. Hi Lynne. I’m not in South Africa, but in Europe. I think what you’re doing here is wonderful and I know you can help so many people. You should consider doing the same for people all around the world via Skype and your videos.
I sincerely wish you all the best and keep up the great work! You are going to improve so many lives 😉

    • Hey Liz

Thanks 🙂 I am considering doing just that, but a little nervous about it! I will start local first and then give it some more thought, thanks for your input. I gave two free lessons today and it went really well. Two websites up and running, how awesome is that?

  2. Hi Lynne,
I took the time to convert the South African currency, (Rand) into American dollars. You quoted the figure a bookkeeper would make over in your country set at R3,000 per month. That figures out to $209.95/month. That is indeed outrageous. A family of four certainly could not live on that figure.

The other costs that you mentioned that you currently pay for daycare for your children, and are other factors that families have to deal with. Therefore it just amplifies what you stated regarding some of the unfair wages earned by qualified professionals in your country.

It is awesome to see how you promoted WA in the manner that you did as well as the fact that you’re also offering people in your country on to at least start an online business.

With how WA trains its members truly anyone who has the initiative that you do with your business could also earn income in a creative manner as you’re now currently doing.

Hopefully you will be able to help as many members of your country as could be reasonably done by you – certainly the South African economy, (much like many other countries in the world) is still suffering much as the U.S. was back in 2008 following the housing/banking crisis and sharp downturn on Wall Street.

    • Hi Jeff

Yes it is terribly sad, never mind a family of four surviving on that, I barely survived on that amount in my first office job many years ago. It seems to be specifically in this West Coast area that is such low wages. Yes the economy is down and inflation is crazy but salaries in Cape Town, just 150 kms away are literally double or triple what people here will pay.

I gave 2 free lessons today and helped set up 2 websites. It feels great to be able to help others. I have another one booked, just need to confirm the day. So happy to help others find another way to make money.

  3. Hi LynneHuy. I like what you are doing for people in different ways and I like the way you have set your site up to do that. One thing for sure, what goes around comes around. You get it and that’s why you are an Ambassador, and by the way, congrats on your Ambassadorship. I’m working on it but I am new at it. I can tell that you, just like a lot of the other sites I visit, are way ahead of me. Three sites? Wow, that’s impressive. I can hardly deal with my measly ONE site. I have no doubts about your success. All I can say, is keep it up. If you like DIY stuff, be sure an check my site out and let me know what you think. I have added a blog but I have never blogged so I don’t really know a lot how blogs work. I see you have figured it out, so that’s good.

    • Hi Bill

Thank you for for your kind words.

I’ve been working online for over 4 years now, so of course my websites will be ahead of yours if you are new to it! With time you will learn so many more skills and you are at the right place to learn everything you could ever want to know.

Blogs are really important, your blog posts are what adds content to your website. Each post you add gives you the opportunity to add more keywords, to add more value for your readers, to gain more traffic to your website.

Adding regular blog posts will be your main task if you are working online. If you have any more questions let me know! Feel free to send me the link to your website and I will gladly have a look.

  4. Hi Lynne,
I am in the USA, so could not take part in your services, but I think what you are doing is absolutely wonderful! You can help so many people yet also earn a living doing it. If you enjoy working online, then this is a huge win-win for you and those whom you help! Kudos to you!

    • Thanks Sue Lee. I am really looking forward to it. I have done a few training sessions now and I have to be honest, I really enjoy it. It is even better than publishing training at Wealthy Affiliate because it is one on one and helping someone achieve their goals.

  5. A fantastic opportunity for anyone living in the Langebaan and surrounds areas Lynne.

I can confirm the awesome support and training that you offer in the WA community… And anyone who passes up a free lesson + the awesome tools I know you are going to share with them is going to be kicking themselves 10 years from now when they are still sitting in that same old office job.

    Keep up the awesome work!

    • Thanks Marc 🙂

I am so excited because I have had a good number of people contact me, some from out of the area too so now I have to see if I can make this work over Skype. I wonder if there is a program specifically for online training where we can do screen sharing etc… something new I need to look into!

  6. Hi Lynne, thanks for your blog. It is really helpful, I am interested to your trainings but I live in Parklands. Would you perhaps look into it.

    • Hi Lungile

I do make trips into Cape Town, but I always come with my 2 year old and 4 year old which doesn’t make having meetings and training sessions very easy at all! However if you have a laptop, internet access and Skype I will happily give you a free Skype meeting and I am sure that we can make a plan for further lessons online if you want more help. I will send you an email.
