Lots of companies have bought backlinks in the past and then with the latest Google updates these websites have literally disappeared from organic search.

Everyone in the online world has heard the term “Content is King”. This is one technique that will always be smiled upon by Google.

If you think about it, what is Google trying to do? Match searches with quality content.

Each new page or post you add to your website has a main keyword focus, however all the content in that page will be indexed by Google which means there are loads more keywords that you can be ranked for in each page.

  1. Rightly you have mentioned, quality content is the key. Many wonder how to get traffic for their website and get caught in scams. Loved how you lay out the core concept of getting traffic.

    • Hi Demi

Thanks for visiting. I am glad you enjoyed this post. Traffic seems to be a very misunderstood concept with people often using black hat techniques that damage their business, without them being aware of it. Unfortunately the internet is full of incorrect information and especially for the newbies it is hard to distinguish between black hat and white hate techniques. I will be writing articles soon explaining the difference.

      Kind Regards

  2. Hey Lynne

Another fantastic post. I spent years wondering how to get traffic to my website, and this lead me down the road of some really doggy money making scams… It ultimately lead to me scrapping everything that I thought was right… And starting from scratch.

Wealthy Affiliate has proved to me that there is no short cuts to getting traffic, that being said… Once I had followed their training and refined my content a bit… I started seeing results within days… It really is all (95%) about quality content.

You are offering some great info for your readers here. Keep up the awesome work!

    Cheers,
    Marc

    • Hi Marc

Thank for visiting again. I had exactly the same experience, trying to find ways to get traffic to my website and it really is quite simple once you know what to do. I also tried some dodgy things, without knowing that it was black hat techniques. The result was that short term I got traffic and long term it did nothing for me. Now I know how to really make it work for me.

      Kind Regards

  3. Thanks Lynne for sharing this. I would say strategy but I think policy is a better word. Writing content that users are looking for not only helps your rankings, it helps spread peoples interest in your site.

    • Hi Vic

Thank you for visiting and sharing your knowledge. Yes, writing content that is interesting and relevant is definitely the goal.

  4. This was exactly what I needed right now. I am in the process of building up traffic on my site so I am being somewhat forced out of my comfort zone into the ‘social media scene.’ We share the same views about not trying to find some quick fix for driving traffic to our sites but using a long term approach. Thanks for the info.

    • Hi Faith

It is a pleasure. I will be sharing more about social media soon. I would really recommend focusing on getting content on your website first and then concentrate on social media at a later stage. Content is king as you always hear, so get that up.

      Kind Regards

  5. Hi Lynne. That is a great article about traffic. I am quite new to affiliate marketing and I don’t know much in-depth about backlinks and other tactics but what I do know is that Google searches for quality content to offer for its users. In my opinion, that is the right way to go right because it is better for the market and the consumer. I think we should always provide valuable information. As long as we keep this in mind, success is only a matter of time! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have put your added your page to my bookmarks. It is very informative e offers exactly what we are talking about, a great content.

    Best wishes

    Stefan

    • Hi Stefan

Thanks for your feedback and best of luck with your affiliate marketing!

There is not much to concern yourself with regarding backlinks, it really is an outdated tactic and it can now sometimes even cause more damage than good. You are on the right track, work on regularly adding quality content to your website on a regular basis and you can’t go wrong. Don’t forget to also research your keywords as this can make such a huge impact on your content ranking!

      Kind Regards
      Lynne
