6 Easy Ways Moms Can Make Money From Blogging

The days when most moms sat at home and brought up kids while their husband’s brought in the entire household income is long gone. These days many moms manage to juggle bringing up their kids and running the household while also bringing in a substantial income. The beauty of technology and the internet means that moms no longer have to even leave the home to earn an income – they can have their kids by their side and still make money online. Some moms have figured out how to lay on both sides of the fence.

While most people by now have heard of blogging many don’t have a clear understanding of what blogging entails or how to make money from a blog. Here are some easy ways moms can make money from blogging that will help you to understand the process.

6 Easy Ways Moms Can Make Money From Blogging

Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing is huge and very popular on social media channels like Instagram. Once you have built your blog up a bit and you have some traffic coming to your website and you have a following on social media you can start telling your audience about some of the things that you love. In time you will find brands contacting you to see if you like their products and wanting you to share your thoughts with your audience and you can charge for this as well as start to receive some really awesome products to try out too!

When it comes to blogging and influencer marketing it is very important to ensure that you are genuine and only work with brands that are in line with your beliefs.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is an amazing way to make passive income from your blog. Affiliate marketing is when you promote products and services on your website and if anyone buys through your link you earn a commission. There are loads of online stores that have affiliate programs such as eBay, Amazon and Target to name a few.

When you find a product you love check their website to see if they offer an affiliate program that you can join so you can share those things with your readers and make some money in the process.

Sell Your Services

You probably have certain skills such as typing, content writing, roof reading, accounting or graphic design. You can use your blog to let people know that you offer services which will expose your services to a much wider audience than just word of mouth or more traditional methods of advertising.

In addition to that you can also list your services on online market places such as Fiverr, Seoclerks or Upwork.Β Some people make a great living on sites like Fiverr.

What I personally do is to list some of my services on Fiverr that complement the work that I do on my blogs and it works a treat!

Sell Your Physical Products

Many moms have hobbies that they do from home, such as knitting, crocheting, sewing and other DIY projects. You can write about the things that you make and even create tutorials on how to make them while adding in affiliate links to the materials that will be needed.

So you can see that there are many ways to tie in making money with one blog post.

Create and Sell Digital Products

Chances are good that you have knowledge that is sought after. Maybe you know how to do buttercream icing and you can create a course on how to create buttercream flowers for cakes. Create a course and sell it on your website. You can then share all the beautiful things you make and every time anyone shows interest refer them to buy your course.

The beauty of this is you create the course once and you can sell it over and over again bringing in an income for many years to come. You don’t have to charge a bomb for it since you can sell an infinite number of courses.

Advertising

Once you have some traffic to your blog people in your niche will show interest in advertising with you. There are various different ways of making money from advertising. You can offer advertising in your email newsletters, in banner adverts and also on your social media channels.

You will be able to take in private advertisers or you can sign up with a company such as Google Adsense that will manage ads on your behalf and pay you for the amount of clicks and views their advertisers get.

There are many more ways to make money from your blog but these are the main ones that come to mind. Do you have any other ways that you earn from your blog?

  1. Hi Lynne, thanks for sharing. I wish I had knew about this whilst I was in maternity leave. Juggling a full-time job with kids is quite hard. To work from home would be a dream come true! It’s great that you show different ways on how to make money from home. I will definately start making more time for blogging.

    • There are some amazing ways to make money from blogging Nathalie – I’m glad you enjoyed this post πŸ™‚Β

  2. Hello. Thanks for the inspiring article. I am a full time working dad, but my wife also works part time and between us we juggling our home life, work and raising 2 kids. It’s not lost on e how much I would be lost without my wife, and anything that allows women and mums to have an opportunity to improve their lifestyle, I am all for. So thanks a lot for your work and keep it coming! Kenny.

    • It is a pleasure Kenny, I hope something helps your wife to make more money πŸ™‚

  3. Nice, I never thought Blogging have vast opportunities like this. When I am blogging on my site, I mainly concentrate on affiliate marketing, where I promote Amazon products. I have never heard of creating and selling digital products and selling physical products. My question is when selling my physical products, how will I connect with a customer who is far away in another country while I am at home? How will the products reach the customer?

    • There are a number of ways you can do that, perhaps the easier would be through Amazon or Ebay. There are different ways of doing it, but I have not sold physical products for a long time. When I sold physical products I did so from my website using the Woocommerce plugin. You would need to work out how you would ship to your customers and put that on your website for your customers to see.Β

  4. Hey Lynne;

I’m still a mom, but he’s in college now. πŸ™‚ However, they still need support at that stage, so I’ve been developing an online business to help with fees, etc. I’m pretty familiar with affiliate marketing and advertising, but Influencer Marketing is a new one for me. I’ve recently started an Instagram account, so this is something I will look at developing.

Thanks for the great ideas and tips! Stella πŸ™‚

    • I’ve got one child in preschool and one that started primary school this year and that costs a bomb, so I can only imagine how expensive college must be! Start sharing some of the things you love on Instagram and over time you will find companies contacting you for influencer jobs, Instagram is huge for influencer marketing.

  5. This comment will be written by my wife.

Hello! I have to tell you that I always want to start with a blog, but I always have the problem of choosing which theme will dominate the site and what I want to give to readers. Definitely this post has helped me to establish certain principles to start with this project and see what are the best ideas for the blog and which ones are not, I also have to say that your advices you give here are very well described and easy to understand, they go to direct to the point and makes it look more simple.

So I hope and soon I will be opening a new blog.

I’m not a mother yet, but I still feel that this blog is dedicated to all women who seek to improve day after day. πŸ™‚

    • You don’t have to be a mom to take advantage of blogging and being at home. I wish I had started a blog years back when I was single and had much more time on my hands. It would have been easier to accomplish my goals then!Β
