Introduction: What is SFI about?

SFI claims to be the #1 Affiliate program online, providing you with over 80 000 products to market and make commission from. In addition to this they claim to offer you a website and loads of free training. This sounds exciting right? So I signed up because it is free and had a look around.

What is SFI about

The first thing that you come across is a video that will get you started. Before I even pressed the play button my heart sank. Yes the getting started video training is called “Methods for Affiliate Sponsoring”.
I thought that SFI offered 80 000 products, why start off with how to get referrals?

I watched the 6 minute video and the owner, Gary Carson, explains there are 4 steps to make money with SFI, steps 1, 2 and 3 you must do to make money. Step 4 is optional.

Step 1: Start Earning Points with SFI by completing tasks in your SFI to do list. I’ll check this out a little later, sounds a bit strange to me.

Step 2: Generate sales at TripleClicks.com which is SFI’s sister site. Commission is 45%. Ok this sounds like it might be good.

Step 3: Maximize your income by Sponsoring Affiliates. We’ll see how I feel about this a little later on once I have had a look at the products!

Step 4: Add Supplemental Income Streams. When I first saw this section I thought that perhaps they would teach you how to add other sources of income. This is actually just additional ways to refer people to SFI and to TripleClicks.com.

SFI affiliate scam

Never mind lets just go ahead and have a look at what is inside. So I arrive to find out I am “44 points below the green line” and I wonder really what is the point in this, will this make me money. I am already annoyed. I go have a look at the to do list like I was instructed to do daily just to see what that involves.

SFI Versapoints

So there is a list of things on my to do list and I go and upload a profile image just to see what this is all about and something interesting happens. I should have earned 35 points as you can see very clearly below… which according to my calculations (yes done without a calculator so I could be wrong here folks) should leave me with 9 points below the green line?

SFI to do list

Well here’s what it tells me now, yes 50 points below the line. I am not impressed at all with this. I have only been here a few minutes and already SFI has stolen my VersaPoints. I don’t even know what VersaPoints are but I don’t like something being stolen from me.

SFI stealing versapoints

Maybe it is time to see what VersaPoints are before I get upset. Turns out the more VersaPoints you have the higher your commission. No thanks, I will just have a look around first. Quite pointless wasting my time on tasks when I don’t even know if I want to have anything to do with SFI yet right?

So let’s see what is on TripleClicks.com and find out what the truth is about this opportunity.

Ok so there are products there and it really is a mixed batch of things, a big variety but I find it strange that I have never heard of TripleClicks before. For example they have books but when I did a search for a few popular titles that I enjoyed none of them are stocked. The books are an obscure variety of titles. The pricing of products is also inflated which is typical of MLM. I can’t see myself promoting products on this website.

Who is SFI for?

I’m not so sure this is a great opportunity, this is certainly not something for newbies.

Anyone that enjoys MLM will probably like this. I didn’t really enjoy TripleClicks very much.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Free to Join
  • Earn affiliate income from products
  • Earn commission from referrals income
  • Websites provides

Cons

  • It is MLM (yes I know maybe not a con in everyone’s eyes)
  • Websites are duplicate sites so you cannot get ranked
  • The only training is how to get your friends and family to sign up, typical MLM techniques that do nothing but alienate you from everyone you cross paths with
  • You need to have a certain amount of VersaPoints in your account in order to earn better commission.

SFI Training

There really is nothing that can be considered valuable training. There is nothing but information on how to try and refer other people to SFI and to Tripleclicks.

SFI Support

They have a support system in place and FAQ’s on the website. You can call them, fax them or send a support ticket in via the website. There is also live chat but this appears just to be members and didn’t look very active to me, there was only one person in live chat. Not very lively at all.

What does SFI cost?

Membership is free, however you can a certain amount of VersaPoints. What I didn’t like is that you have to earn and/ or buy VersaPoints to earn better commission structure.

Is SFI a Scam?

Nope it is not a scam, it is just another MLM mixed in with an affiliate program via TripleClicks.

My Verdict for SFI

I’m peeved they stole my VersaPoints, yes I know I won’t be back there and won’t need them. It is just the ethics behind it and it makes me very concerned about the rest of the program if they steal VersaPoints from me the minute I arrive! I had a look a little while later and apparently my points are now on 6 which means my missing points have been given back and I have been awarded 3 points extra. It just doesn’t add up. I don’t like it when things add up.

I personally don’t like this and I don’t recommend it. However after thoroughly researching this company I can’t say you won’t like this, but I do want to say please be careful if you do try it out. I don’t recommend MLM and I don’t recommend anything that is slightly dodgy (like stealing points!).

Overall the only way I can describe this opportunity is soggy, it is just an MLM scheme completely lacking in any substance!

  1. Great review. Won’t be joining this MLM for sure! Thanks for saving me the trouble.

  2. hi Lynne
Oh boy, I hate MLMs with a vengeance so it is a big con for me. It seems like Sfi is not technically a scam but it is representing its services correctly. As you said, you do not earn the points they say you will (even though we do not know what the points are for yet) and you end up on duplicate sites, which is crap for Google. Even though it is free to join, it seems like it would be waste of time to invest any time in it.

    • Hi Emily, yes a complete waste of time in my opinion, but hey some people love MLM…. so maybe this is what others are looking for?

  3. Hi Lynne, a very nice review of SFI.

This set up sounds like pure garbage so I will be following your advice and giving this one a miss! (Even the name sounds scammy).

As usual in the situations, Wealthy Affiliate is a genuine alternative and I’m sure you well know!

    All the best,
    Dan

    • Hi Dan

Yip, pure garbage in my opinion, but hey if anyone enjoys MLM they might just enjoy it I suppose. There are lots of people that love MLM, I just can’t figure out what the appeal is though!

Yes, Wealthy Affiliate is really is the best online business opportunity!

  4. Hi Lynne,
Great review of sfi you did an excellent job.I tried joining sfi before I came across WA.
I found sfi so confusing could not follow it at all!You have a lot better understanding of the setup there than I did.Its only after just reading your review I know now what sfi is about. Its so different at WA the training is so easy to follow and great interaction between the members .Also there is constant live chat where everyone is so helpful and supportive!

  5. Hi Lynne:

I never heard of SFI but it sounds like a definite scam and one that everyone should avoid. Thank you for writing such a wonderful review of this program. I hope others will read your review before wasting their time.

I have been victimized by scams as well. When I first started looking for ways to make money through affiliate marketing, I was suckered into a program called Excel Cash Flow. What a scam!

I like your recommendation of Wealthy Affiliate. That is probably the only legitimate program of its kind. I am a member of WA and for anyone reading this article, I recommend you take Lynne up on her recommendation, because you will not regret it.

    • Hi Stephanie, yes I have heard of Excel Cash Flow, it is on my list of websites to review but I have a very long list!

Yes Wealthy Affiliate is the best opportunity I have come across so far. I do hope I will find plenty more great opportunities. Right now I seem to just be hitting scam after scam.

  6. Hi Lynne,
I really don’t like programs like this. I keep wondering what is the point of points. And if these programs say you have to have so many points tip even earn your money I stay clear. You could waste so much time racking up points and get less than $10 for that effort. It may not be a scam but it sure wastes a lot of time with little results.

    • Hi Jessica

Yes I agree, I am sure that is why people work on a points system. It looks like a lot and then when you work out the ratio to money… not so nice after all.

This SFI opportunity just looks sub standard to me, nothing worthwhile here for anyone in my opinion.
